If you’re not already planning to attend the Rally in Great Falls, Montana, this summer, you probably shouldn’t listen to this episode. Kristian Richardson of the Montana Office of Tourism – a BMW rider, by the way, and now an MOA member to boot – tells us all about where to find the best roads in Montana.
We also discuss the weather, the police and much more about Montana. Don’t forget to visit the Fiesta Mexicana Taco Bus in Dillon – Kristian says they make the best tacos north of Arizona. Tune in now and start getting excited about coming to the Rally! For more info about the rally, check out RALLY.BMWMOA.ORG.
- Kristian’s three favorite Montana rides are…
- US 89 from Flagstaff, Ariz., to Great Falls and beyond
- Wolf Creek to Choteau on US 287
- Montana Rts 278 and 43 (Dillon/Wisdom)

Finally, the communication device Kristian mentions in the discussion is the iSatPhone 2, available from inmarsat.

Looks like they are riding a K1600?
Indeed they are!
Excellent podcast! Riding to the rally from northern Idaho. Exploring Idaho and Montana every riding season – thanks for the scenic riding tips! Agree – large critters in abundance dawn and dusk.
Hi Mark. Kristian here. That’s a stock photo.. Not my bike, nor me, or the person behind. Hope to see you in Montana in June!
Funny, I see no “embedded player” with either Firefox or Chrome browsers. What does it look like, and where on the page should it be?
Not sure why you can’t see it in Chrome – it is definitely there!
Woooww they are great photographers too! I love all the pictures in this blog post. Keep up with the adventures and thanks for sharing!
How can I get the route from Flagstaff to Great Falls, for it does not look like it always follows US-89?
Is there a way to get more road detail on the US-89 Route from Flagstaff to Great Falls? I would like to take this route after the rally. The route does not follow US-89 all of the way.
it would be great to ‘print’ or GPX of these routes if possible, thanks, great guest.
